Being with
The pieces here were developed on a course ‘Context & Form, Art & Writing’ with land artist Chris Drury and poet Kay Syrad.
The intention was towards intuitive artworks made in and with nature, collaborative encounters used as the source through which to explore form making that de-centred the personal and celebrated the universal.
The title of these works relates to the terms used by the American eco-scholar, Donna Haraway - ‘being-with’ and ‘making-with’ - in relation to our need at this time of ecological crisis, to reconsider our hierarchical relationship with the non-human world.
