Capturing the subtlety and shifting nature of perception lie at the heart of my efforts to create. There is a restless curiosity to ‘see, draw and make’ through and beyond outward appearances into an imaginative extension of the given world in the hope of unearthing deeper, pre-conceptual energies and form.
The transformative nature of materials and organic matter are a generative source for me. Our human sensitivity towards the rest of the natural world is the essential relationship that drives the work, offering the physical and phenomenological metaphors that I crave.
To expose the grooves of other living things, to acknowledge an elemental, shared and reciprocal existence, to tap into and be a witness to the quiet, subconscious happenings and celebrate them...at times by way of mis-understandings, intuitive shots in the dark, emotional stumbles and with a need for a deep atonement.
